Describe the relationships between the class theme and the story.__
Our class theme “humanity” relates to this story is about humans making decision and not learning from their mistakes. All humans make mistakes, but the ones who are able to learn from their past errors and take the right actions in the future will be the one successful in life.
RESPONDING
1. To see if the water of youth works on humans, and how they would relive their life.
2. All of Dr. Heidegger’s Friends are near death and have all had unfortunate lives. During the experiment their old habit come right back to them, even though they were warned to make guidelines for how to live the second chance.
3. He will not drink from the fountain of youth because after seeing his friend’s bad habits return, he thinks that he will do the same. He friends think that they should go find the fountain of youth and drink from it day and night. I feel that Dr. Heidegger made the right decision because there is no point in reliving life again if he could not make the right decisions and learn from his earlier mistakes.
4. The narrator is another person who know of these events. He probably know of these event through a friend or maybe even Dr. Heidegger. Also he is not really certain of his facts. In one passage it says :”If any passages of the present tales should startle the reader’s faith, i must be content to bear the stigma of a fiction-monger.” form that i can infer that he is not 100% sure of his facts.
5. At the start he makes examples of the different characters and how they wasted their youth or aging became their downfall. Such the colonel who wasted his youth in sinful desire or the politician who fell behind in the times. I agree to his points, defiantly spend your youth wisely and doing useful things. Aging takes aways from the human physical and mental features thus restricting many of the things one can do at old age.
7. No, at least not currently. in our current day and age that vaccine would drastically increase the population and decrease in resources. Maybe in the future when more efficient technology is developed and we find new places to inhabit, only then we have what is needed to support this change in human lifespan.
